Associate Director Behavioral Health-School Based Health Center


Associate Director of BH SBHC is responsible for managing their own SBHC site and is responsible for supervising and coaching other lead therapists in managing and developing their SBHC sites.  Will meet on a regular basis individually to coach and supervise lead therapists/site managers assigned to them.  Will visit in person and provide onsite supervision and support.  Observe sites on a regular basis to help with optimal functioning and adapting standard procedures to each site.  Participate in 2 times a year meetings with each sites principal.   Run group supervision meetings with lead therapists/site managers assigned to them.  Work effectively with the Director of SBHC BH, Medical Director of SBHC, Associate Director of BH SBHC psychopharmacology services and SBHC Practice Manager on program management, development, and operations.  Work with DPH for management of grant requirements.  Work with Director of SBHC BH and CBHO on program development, quality improvement, standardization, and compliance.  Participate in planning SBHC trainings and events.  Provide clinical support and supervision as needed.  Facilitate integrated BH medical programming across the sites. 


With respect to managing the Associate Directors own school site, the manager is responsible for the day to day smooth operations of the school based site.  Facilitate the effective integration of behavioral services into the school based LCHC team and into the school community.  If applicable, work with school based medical NP and office coordinator to ensure school based operations run smoothly.   Collaborate with the school and the LCHC School based team to create meetings and communication infrastructures to care for students’ behavioral health needs.  This involves indentifying and managing referrals and collaborating when appropriate with school on care of student.  Supervise and manage other BH clinicians at their site and participate in their biannual evaluation.   Interface with schools to provide consultation, plan for services, and trouble shoot problems. Take the lead on integrating and collaborating with school; work with PASS supervisor on operational work flow.  



With respect to supervising other SBHC sites:

  • Supervise and coach assigned lead therapists
  • Regularly observe assigned SBHC sites, evaluate, and assist in maintaining standardization and optimal functioning.
  • Participate in twice a year feedback meetings with school principal or their designee on site functioning, collaboration, goals, and meeting expectations.
  • Work effectively with SBHC management team
  • Facilitate compliance with DPH or other grant requirements at SBHC sites
  • Participate in program development and planning
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • Develop and facilitate integrated programming across sites


With respect to managing own SBHC site:


  • Work with other team members to create team-based care and foster medical integration
  • Work with other team members to ensure smooth operational work flow
  • Supervise other behavioral clinicians at the site
  • Participate in program development
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • Ensure site is integrated into school, create needed collaborative infrastructure and meetings
  • Provide educational and prevention programming as needed
  • Supervise office coordinator in conjunction with PASS supervisor if applicable
  • Takes lead on integrating and collaborating with school
  • Work with PASS supervisor on operational work flow
  • LMHC, LICSW or licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Experience working within SBHC
  • Experience providing clinical and administrative supervision
  • Previous experience in participating in quality improvement activities and program development required.
