On Friday, June 12, LCHC celebrated Employee Appreciation Night at the Lynn Navigators baseball game. Executive Director Lori Berry threw the first pitch that started a terrific ball game in which the Navigators beat the Bristol Blues 5-3! It was a fun night for employees and their families!

Employees at Partners Healthcare, including North Shore Medical Center, have spent the past several weeks collecting baby items for their annual “Baby Basket” drive for needy families at area community health centers. Ten new mothers at Lynn Community Health Center each received a basket that included a variety of items including diapers, wipes, clothing, bottles, toys, and more. Bill Mantzoukas, co-founder of Lynn Community Health Center, was awarded the Joseph M. Smith Consumer Award by the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers on June 5, 2015. This award is presented annualy to an individual who exemplifies a high level of interest in, dedication to, and support of the delivery of primary health care services in the communities in which these services are provided.

It is with great sadness that Lynn Community Health Center acknowledges the death of Andrea Gaulzetti, RN, from ovarian cancer. She died peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 30.
Andrea was the health center’s Chief Nursing Officer. She was a dear friend, a close colleague, and a valued mentor. Nearly 200 people packed the Kernwood Country Club in Salem last Thursday, May 14th to support Lynn Community Health Center’s “Women for Lynn Community Health Center Recognition Breakfast,” an annual event recognizing those who have contributed to the health and well–being of women and girls. In response to the growing heroin epidemic in the City, proceeds from the event will be designated to expanding the health center’s program to treat substance use disorders.

We have only a short time to act!
At the end of September Lynn Community Health Center, along with every other federally funded community health center in the United States, will lose up to 70% of our federal funding unless Congress acts to avert a “funding cliff.”
For Lynn Community Health Center this means a loss of up to $2.3 million, resulting in up to 1,230 people in our community losing access to healthcare.
