The Lynn Community Health Center’s Baby Café recently hosted a visit from a top official of the US Department of Agriculture. Janey Thornton, deputy undersecretary for food, nutrition, and consumer services, stopped by the center as part of a Boston-area tour during National Breast-feeding Awareness Month.

The Health Center hosted the safety day in recognition of National Health Center Week. Lynn parks and recreation workers assisted the River Works volunteers and police officers in outfitting and instructing kids who showed up for the event.

More than 100 people filled Central Square and spent their lunch hour on Thursday sashaying, swaying and popping their hips to a Latin beat as they took part in the Lynn Community Health Center’s Zumba in the Square event.

Employees of North Shore Medical Center and other Partner’s HealthCare organizations have spent the past few weeks shopping for diapers, baby clothes, and other baby items to contribute to “Partners Baby Baskets” to be donated to families at 11 community health centers in the Greater Boston Area.

Joyce Kulhawik, Emmy-Award winning entertainment critic and cancer crusader, and the Pink Angels, a local non-profit dedicated to the prevention and cure of breast cancer, were honored by the Lynn Community Health Center at its second annual Women for LCHC Recognition Breakfast. Over 200 guests were on hand at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem to recognize the women for their advocacy for cancer prevention, education and support.
