Behavioral Health Experience


Senior Psychologist /LMHC/LISCW/LMFT will provide direct clinical service to patients, provide clinical supervision to interns and staff, be involved in quality improvement activities, other administrative activities, and help to develop programming as needed by the director of behavioral health.  


With respect to clinical duties, Senior Psychologist /LMHC/LISCW/LMFT will perform comprehensive bio-psycho- social diagnostic evaluations with their patients.   They will provide crisis management services as necessary.  They will create patient centered treatment plans, provide ongoing treatment, provide case management services, and assess patient’s ongoing clinic needs and progress.   Treatment services provided will be based on their credentialing privileges, related to their areas of expertise, and follow accepted guidelines and best practices.  They will provide consultation and coordinate care with other providers involved in the patient’s care including LCHC providers, the PCP, and providers from outside agencies.  They will take a team oriented approach to patient care and fully participate in integrating behavioral health care with primary care.  Direct services may be provided at various locations including: 20 Central, 269 Union, Western Ave., 280 Union, school based health centers, at other community sites/agencies, and in patients’ homes.  Senior Psychologist /LMCH/LISCW/LMFT primary service location will vary based on responsibilities and can be changed based on needs.  The Senior Psychologist /LMHC/LISCW/LMFT clinical work and documentation will meet accepted standards of practice including those set by LCHC policy, JACHO, NCQA, state, professional association, and contracted insurance companies.  Productivity targets will be determined on a yearly basis and may need to be adjusted based on a variety of factors including specific duties and health care economics.


With respect to other duties, Senior Psychologist /LMHC/LISCW/LMFT will be expected to supervise interns, post-docs, and junior staff as assigned by the director of behavioral health.  Senior Psychologist /LMCH/LISCW/LMFT will be expected to be involved in training and teaching of interns and staff.  As assigned by the director of behavioral health, the Senior Psychologist /LMHC/LISCW/LMFT will participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts.  They will also be involved in program development and community consultation.



Up to date immunization and annual TB testing is required.  Hepatitis B vaccine and annual flu immunization are strongly recommended.  All necessary vaccines are available at no charge at the health center. 


Results of inquiry to Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) must be acceptable under health center standards.

Clinical Services

Provide comprehensive bio-psycho-social diagnostic assessment at intake and at any point needed throughout the therapeutic treatment.

Provide psychotherapeutic treatments; be well versed in at least two treatment modalities.

Provide ongoing treatment planning.

Provide crisis intervention and management services.

Provide case management services.

Use a team oriented approach with special emphasis on communication and coordination of care.

Provide psycho-diagnostic testing.


Indirect Services 

Maintain patient records that meet health center, JACHO, professional, state, and legal standards.

Complete patient records in a timely fashion.

Bill services the day patient was seen.

Respond in a timely fashion to UR coordinators when clinical information or extended care forms are needed by insurance companies to authorize more visits.

Participate in peer review and QA activities

Attend monthly staff meetings.

Read and respond to emails.

Conduct professional practice and behavior according to the policies and procedures of LCHC as well as the American Psychological Association Code of Ethics.

Life Long Learning

Attend supervision with the Director of Behavioral Health or other providers as needed.

Incorporate feedback from supervision to improve clinical skills and performance.

Engage in regular self evaluation of skills; elicit feedback from supervisors, colleagues, and patients; be open to constructive feedback.

Maintain CEU’s as required by the state.

Attend CEU’s relevant to current practice and patient population.

Attend 75% of health centered sponsored educational activities.


Supervisory/Clinical Leader Functions

Form working relationship with supervisee that clarifies expectations and boundaries.

Work with supervisee to assess strength, weaknesses, and areas for clinical growth.

Encourage two way communications; periodically assess ability to meet supervisee’s needs.

Review cases with supervisee for appropriateness of treatment plan, ongoing progress, and application of therapeutic technique. 

Evaluate supervisee’s ability to perform duties and associated core competencies.

Support supervisee in improving ability to perform duties and associated core competencies.



Demonstrates an understanding of customer service principles by successfully completing on-line Customer Service training.

Utilizes the principles of customer service when interacting with patients, team members and staff from other departments. 

Appropriately handles or seeks support when customer service breakdowns occur.



Demonstrates knowledge of culture by successfully completing the on-line training on Cultural Competence.

1.Is aware that in order to respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, any staff member may be assigned duties that differ from those in the job description, or may be assigned temporarily to a different location or schedule.

Associate Director of Behavioral Health

Independent clinical license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in one of the following areas: Psychology/LMHC/LICSW/LMFT

 Doctoral or Masters Degree, with commensurate practicum and internship which focused clinical mental health practice.

Quality training and supervision in psychotherapeutic techniques.  Senior Psychologist LMHC/

LISCW/LMFT must be trained and experienced in treating patients with a wide range of mental illness and different levels of functioning.  They will have 5 years experience counseling emotionally disturbed patients in multiple settings. 

Record of good attendance, be able to work as part of a team, and have positive work attitude.



1.            No less than five (5) years of direct service in the diagnosis and treatment of those problems specific to mentally ill patients manifesting a wide spectrum of illnesses and symptoms.

2.            At least five (5) years experience consulting and/or collaborating with the various agencies that provide care for mentally ill patients.

3.            Previous experience in supervising pre doctoral interns, post doctoral graduate students, and junior staff members.

4.            Previous experience in participating in quality improvement activities and program development.
