Health Center receives grant to help Lynn residents apply for insurance

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation has awarded Lynn Community Health Center $40,000 to provide outreach to low-income residents who need help enrolling in health insurance through its “Connecting Consumers with Care” grant program.

“Blue Cross has been a strong partner in our outreach efforts for many years,” said Lori Abrams Berry, health center Executive Director.  “Signing up for health insurance is very complex, requiring lots of paperwork.  Most of our patients need guidance through this process.”

The Lynn Community Health Center celebrated its 4nd Annual Meeting on Monday, October 23.  Over 200 staff, board, and community members attended an evening that truly exhibited the commitment and dedication of its staff and board.

USDA Deputy Undersecretary visits LCHC Baby Café

Dr. Janey Thornton, USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, visited Lynn Community Health Center’s Baby Café on Tuesday as part of a multi-stop visit to the Boston Area to promote breastfeeding during National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.  Twelve moms were on hand to talk to her about their experiences.

Family Bike Fun and Safety Day!

On Tuesday, August 6 the health center celebrated National Health Center Week with a Bike Safety Fair sponsored in collaboration with Mayor Kennedy, the City of Lynn, and General Electric.  Over 75 children received free helmets and participated in many fun safety activities.  See our event page for more information.

Senator Warren Visits Lynn Community Health Center

Lynn Community Health Center was honored to host a visit by Senator Elizabeth Warren on Friday, July 26th.  Senator Warren, Congressman Tierney, and other officials came to learn more about the health center, and particularly about our integrated care model that combines primary and behavioral health care in one setting.  During a briefing and a tour of our new building, she expressed confidence that community health centers are an important part of the future of healthcare.
